Overthinking the Sunflower Sympathy stamp set from CTMH

When you look at a stamp set, do you see just the main image and buy it or move on based solely on that stamp?

Well, today I’m going to show you just a few ways I’ve discovered very unlikely uses for some stamps from the Close To My Heart (FUNN.ctmh.com) stamp set called Sunflower Sympathy. I hope you enjoy my overthinking.

Have a special little friend who deserves more than a handful of Sam’s mega bag candy this month? Yeah, I do, too. This little bag uses a Sam’s lunch bag, a little stamping, and a lot of happy FUNN.

Here is a video from Saturday morning’s FUNN University free class “LIVE from my MESK!” (a MESK is my word for my messy desk). This process vid shows the step-by-step how-to make your own little monster bag.

I do not know why there is a HUGE gap here! For more LIVE from my MESK! FUNN, join me on my FB Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Central.

During the video, I got a little sidetracked with some more ideas using this stamp set, so here we go, Sunflower Sympathy.

Sunflower Sympathy
Available now through the end of October on FUNN.ctmh.com

Have a friend who is under the weather? Get out Sunflower Sympathy!

Have a pre-schooler who likes to play games? Get out Sunflower Sympathy!

preschool game ideas, matching
Stamping is a perfect way to make inexpensive pre-school games. Here are several ideas for these monsters: make a face in the mirror which matches the monster – identify the feeling each face means, stamp in different colors for color identification; or stamp a pile of monsters in different colors to play “Go, Monster” (like Go, Fish).

Have a birthday card to send? Get out Sunflower Sympathy!

I’m sure Sunflower Sympathy has more FUNN discoveries of use to be made! If you come up with something new, please share it on my FB page!

Of course, you can always use Sunflower Sympathy for a sunflower card, too! We’ve been painting on the FUNN University campus this month, and this is just ONE of the many cards I’ve shared with my students. I count at least 11 more cards with Sunflower Sympathy alone only shared on campus! You are so welcome to enroll and join us, too!

I’m adding this card to the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge blog. It is a new challenge blog to me, and I totally suggest you visit their site. The examples are beautiful!

I’m also linking this Sunflower card to another new challenge blog to me called “A Place To Start“. If you love checking off lists, check out their charts! This sunflower card checked off at least one requirement per column.
Column one: Image, Sentiment, Vellum
Column two: Embossing (wet)
Column three: Embossing powder, Shimmer Brush (red on the petals – hard to see)
Column four: flower
Column five: Stitching (faux) trimmed from a die cut
How FUNN!

Do you love how I overthink a stamp set? Then join us for your free month on the campus of FUNN University. Because overthinking is what I do.

Heads Up, FUNN friends on ordering this stamp…

I love this dark, rich version of the sunflower and the way you have created to many variations using the same stamp set is brilliant! I really like the simple circle background with the black bannered sentiment – the color palette is perfect! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at APTS!

Thanks for joining us at CAS Watercolour for the first time Mary! Unfortunately, you’ve missed the challenge this month, which is maple leaves. We hope you’ll join again sometime with a CAS Watercolour card following the challenge prompt.

Oh, for Pete’s sake. I’m sorry, but people should still go to your blog, so I’ll leave it up here.

Your sunflower is beautiful. The background, vellum and embossed sentiment are quite striking. Thanks for sharing at 613 Avenue Create.

Thanks for the shout out and for the lovely Sunflower card submission to our challenge! Thanks, too, for showing the fun ways to extend and vary the use of stamp sets. Here at A Place to Start, one of our goals is to find ways to encourage crafters to expand their horizons and step outside their comfort zones. I will spend some time staring at my floral stamp sets now to find new ways to use them. We hope to see more of your work in our challenge!
