I Looked Up the Word Scrapbooking and Found Guilt; 12 Truth Bombs

Seriously, it is an unspoken truth, but a synonym of “scrapbooking” is guilt.

As a scrapbooking instructor, I have heard every response about scrapbooking.

“I am not creative.”

“I don’t have time.”

“I don’t have the room.”

“My husband would kill me.”

I am totally used to those responses.

But there’s one response about scrapbooking, though, that makes me cry.
A dear friend who was dying told me through tears, “I wish I had scrapbooked my children’s lives.”

Today is National Scrapbooking Day (a.k.a. National Guilt Day for Non-Scrapbookers).

So, here are 12 truths bombs I have discovered over the past 18+ years in the business.

  1. Nobody is going to scrapbook your family’s memories like you.
Really, think about it, control freaks, are you ready to give up the helm to someone else?
  2. Could be nobody is going to scrapbook your family’s memories, at all.
  3. Most people are two generations away from being forgotten.
  4. There is no price too high to save your beautiful, one-time-through life.
  5. There is literally a way for everyone to scrapbook.
If you aren’t a cutesy person, I know other ways.
  6. You can start and stop scrapbooking at any time. It is not ’til death do us part, but death will part you from telling your stories.
  7. You don’t have to have an entire room to scrapbook. This is a total myth.
  8. Any scrapbook is better than no scrapbook.
  9. Social Media is NOT an answer. Twitter? Are you kidding me? Your stories are worth more than a tweet!
  10. FaceBook, is FUNN, but it is a capricious and an unreliable alternative to a scrapbook.
  11. Instastories are FUNN, but they are memory robbers.
  12. Everyone loves to tell their story!
Watch two people talking, see how many stories are told as a reaction to the other’s conversation.
Conversations are totally verbal tennis matches of memories!

CUT the excuses. ACT. Scrapbook. I will help.

Happy Scrapbooking Day – let this be a starting day for you and your family’s memories to be saved.
