Remembering Bamba

I entered my recipe for my Grandma Bamba’s potato salad in Jeanette Lynton’s blog contest. I didn’t win the free stamp set, but I got something better – a mention of my dear Bamba on a very popular blog!

The first section is my entry. The second is from Jeanette’s blog. Grandma Bamba is right there!

This recipe is in my 9×9 CTMH cookbook on a scrap of paper with my
doodles on it. I remember interviewing my Grandma (“Bamba”) to get
this recipe. The conversation was at least 25 years ago and this
recipe on a scrap of paper reminds me SO much of her.

“Bamba’s” Potato Salad
me: potatoes? Bamba: cook in jackets & cool
me: eggs? Bamba: couple hard cooked
me: onions? Bamba: a few – T. or 2
me: vinegar? Bamba: little, t or 2
me: sour cream? Bamba: lots
me: mayo? Bamba: more
me: sugar? Bamba: ya ya (she was a bit German) 1 – 2 T
salt and paper

Thanks for the memories and helping me save them, Jeanette.

“Delicious, every one!

This has to be one of my favorite contests ever! From potatoes to
pineapple, whipped cream to mayonnaise, your salad suggestions have made
my mouth water. They all look so easy and delicious, I can’t wait to
spice up my summer by trying many of them to test on my family. Thank
you for sharing them—along with your fun insights and stories, from
Grandma Bamba’s tips to the secrets of portion sizing from the Pedersen

By the way, if you don’t have Jeanette’s blog marked as a favorite – I highly recommend it for the art sample, tips, contests, scrapbooking ideas, color combos, and now, recipes!
