Stamp of the Month Monday * Smooshed Watercolor Cards in Shabby Chic, Altered Art, Tim Holtz-y Style

Ways to add a personal touch to “Smooshed” ink backgrounds.
Let’s Get Started!
1. STAMP in a Bold Color
2. Provide a Focal Point
Highlight the sentiment by punching out a shape
3. Add White Detail
Use Chalk Marker to add white details
4. INK
Ink the EDGE of your Clear Acrylic Block in ink and add
lines (like in the bottom right corner )
LOVE THIS.

5. Doodle
Add “hash marks” to add detail and interest with Journaling Pen.
Outline interesting little spots with Journaling Pen and areas of color
to add more detail and character.
ALL products (except water color paper) are Close To My Heart.
I did the rest!

To see how to make these groovy mini-canvas backgrounds,
6. Doodle
Outline with Journaling Pen some of the big blobby shapes.
It is kind of like creating a border of a pretend country on a map.
7. Doodle Some More
Doodle line around the edge of “canvas” with Journaling Pen.

8. Add Cricut Shapes
Add Cricut shaped paper pieces and DOODLE again!
9. USE the COLOR
Let the ink colors direct your stamping.
Close To My Heart has 40 beautiful Reinker Colors to choose, plus black and white!
See how the black spikey flowers follow the lighter yellow?
Talk about your feeling movement!
10. ADD the BLING
Add bling – tiny sparkles to accent an understated area.
Or a Gold Marker for a flat pop of cool.
One of the best parts of this Stamp of the Month is the seventeen sentiments – woooot –
‘cuz “XOXOXO” is sometimes just what I need to send and receive!

Here I added one of my other favorite stamp sets,
11. Doodle More
Draw a doodle lines where ever with Journaling Pen such as under a message so it doesn’t get lost.
12. TEXTURE
Use a texture tools or sponges to pounce some interest in areas of big color blobs.
13. Mat
If there is a lot of color and crazy going on in the “canvas”, be sure to offset
the action with a bold complementary mat or a wide white space.
Peace be to the eye.
14.  Use a Collage-type Stamp
Pull out an old favorite collage type stamp (Forever Friends, C1533, 13.95,
the bird & flowers are one stamp)
and kick it up!
The flowers were colored by white Chalk Marker.
and paired the Stamp of the Month with another perennial (thank you, spell check) stamp set
